Haitian angels

What Do You See?

Last night a couple said they were leaving for Haiti this month for their first trip. Haiti is still on my mind and heart so I thought I’d share more.

The painting of Nalda’s eye is part of my Question Series and while praying for the nation I was working more on the painting. The light in her eye looked like an angel. I kept praying for God’s angels to surround them. It felt like a tribute and prayer cloth in one.

My time in Haiti with HAPI let me see that the simple things are more important than most of our worries in the US. No running water, electric, medical and more…. yet joy because there is community, laughter and love.

I still find it hard to look at the abundance here and the desire for “stuff” that we can’t live without. This also had me really questioning God and why should I sell paintings when people need food?

A friend experienced similar in Africa and asked how many live like this. 80% of the world lives on less than $10 a day and 50% live on less than $2 a day.

What is most important in your world?
