give me the words to pray

"Spirit Dance"

Prayer can be confusing?

Lately my focus is scripture. Not fully formed thoughts or bowed head but speaking, out loud, an appropriate scripture. Knowing chapter and verse isn’t the point.

Would you like your prayers to be more powerful? Pray the Scriptures. Hebrews 4:12 says that God’s Word is alive and powerful, sharper than a two-edged sword. When we speak and pray the Scriptures, we are coming into agreement with God, and His power is released to answer our prayers.

Pretty, loud, or long isn’t the important part.

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express. And he who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints in accordance with God’s will. Romans 8:26-27

Sometimes it’s not even about words….

I have been looking at this painting for four days, trying to form an adequate response. I see it as your true self-portrait, your true spirit before God, assisted by the Holy Spirit. At first, I thought the female figure was a little girl. But, in terms of a self-portrait, even this is appropriate–you as a child of God. Of course, this is all interpretation and the girl could be anybody. I also like the green dress–again very open to symbolic interpretation.

I like your idea of saying Bible verses–to the best of your ability and not legalistic about chapter and verse numbers, but according to the spirit and meaning of the words.
