its simple

We’ve had some warmer spurts tempting me to get out and walk – then cold comes again. A friend and I decided no matter – we would walk at our local mall. It felt good! We were not surprised it is emptier.

What will happen to these buildings, homes, and places?

empty – foreclosed – abandoned

How much NEW do we need before we are satisfied?

modern – hi tech – edgy

I saw their daughters new toy. NO BATTERIES!! Now called RETRO toys. Life was a bit simpler with Lincoln Logs and Etch A Sketch but they too were once HOT items.

Just pondering the wisdom of Solomon and how he had so much wisdom and understanding and still called it all so “meaningless.”

I believe that all wisdom consists in caring immensely for a few right things, and not caring a straw about the rest. ~John Buchan

    • Most of it me too but I do like fresh bread, blooming flowers, and new friends. And i would like a macbook w/CS5 but just because…I also don’t. Does that make sense? Being in this world but not of it is difficult.

  1. Aunt Melanie says:

There always has to be something “new” in order to satisfy a consumer society and to make a profit. I think this is why some people like antiques–it is a way to stay connected to the past and to acquire a sense of heritage and continuity. Likewise, some people turn to ancient Christianity–to the days of the early Church when repentance seemed more urgent and the second-coming more immediate, and worship was simpler compared to the liturgical developments over the centuries.

    • Very true points A.M. We have some in the city (and around the world) into community gardens, community engagement, and being more of the Acts church. Others are calling it New Aged when it is more a matter of getting back to those simpler truer times.

  2. Judi – this reminds me of a song (surprised, I know) 😉

And don’t throw the past away
You might need it some other rainy day
    Dreams can come true again
When everything old is new again
    When everything old i-is new-ew a-again

As it will also one day be with us – the old will be made new! Won’t that be glorious! 😀

  3. Judi–I dearly love your quotes. Thank you for the thoughts and I really appreciate how your mind works. I’ll be back…
