“Arise, shine, for your light has come,
and the glory of the LORD rises upon you.
See, darkness covers the earth
and thick darkness is over the peoples,
but the LORD rises upon you
and his glory appears over you.”
Lately when reading I am caught by the word tenses used.
I doesn’t say light WILL come but that it HAS come. The glory rises and appears. Not that it once did or someday might.
How much of God’s statements for the present do we put off as something for the future? Like a gift He has for us but we won’t accept it?
His divine power has given us everything we need for life and godliness through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness.
