shifting sands

A very beautiful time on the river with my friend this weekend. Some days we are laughing, some crying and most often delving into the complexities of our God.

As we traveled the Kalamazoo River and enjoyed the tranquility, the varying songs of the birds and lots of BIG fish, we were noticing the changes. Each year we can see the effect of snow and rain along the banks. The winds and currents move sand and dead trees. Nature adjusts. Not always to our liking but we also were talking about how all of God’s creation is shifting – changing. He moves gallons and tons of water and sand in a moment…not just a year.

All that He created was designed to move – even mountains!

Why then do we try to keep so much the same?
Why are we so often inflexible?

The man who never alters his opinion is like standing water, and breeds reptiles of the mind. ~William Blake
