Behind and underneath all this there is a holy, God-planted, God-tended root. If the primary root of the tree is holy, there’s bound to be some holy fruit. Some of the tree’s branches were pruned and you wild olive shoots were grafted in. Yet the fact that you are now fed by that rich and holy root gives you no cause to crow over the pruned branches. Remember, you aren’t feeding the root; the root is feeding you. Romans 11:16-18
Are you trying to feed God?
Or letting Him feed you?
Is it our effort that brings fruit?
I have so many journal notes that “it’s not about striving” as if I make it all happen. Sure I could make a lot happen, but would be like barking up the wrong tree?
Jesus didn’t make it all happen. He listened. He was obedient and surrendered to God’s plan. He paved the way for us. He did the hard part so we don’t have to. God did the rest.
Will we let Him feed us or will keep trying to feed Him?
(If I get too deep, let me know. Some days I know my pondering is intense.)
