did you see him

Now there was a man in Jerusalem called Simeon, who was righteous and devout. He was waiting for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was on him. It had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he would not die before he had seen the Lord’s Messiah. Moved by the Spirit, he went into the temple courts. When the parents brought in the child Jesus to do for him what the custom of the Law required, Simeon took him in his arms and praised God… Luke 2:25-28

Simeon understood the Spirit so well. Though no fanfare was ushering baby Jesus to the temple, he knew this baby was the hope of the world – the Messiah.

I think of the disciples later on the road – Jesus appears and they don’t know him. In His resurrected state, understandable but it makes me wonder how often we are missing Holy Spirit promptings, Jesus encounters and the voice of our God…

Let us know You more fully Lord so we recognize You everywhere.

Like to think I walk about listening with spiritual ears and looking with spiritual eyes. Glad to say there have been glimmers and glimpses with whispers and murmurs.
