empty vessels

041yupo webThese past few weeks have definitely been a change up. I have been writing words about websites and accounting. Not so exciting or uplifting – but definitely filled with questions and challenges!

Refilling time was needed and thankfully I found some space.

What does refilling look like to you?

Is it something you do?

A place you go?

Jesus said, “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.” John 14:27

I think of Jesus’ first miracle. Giant empty jars He told the waiters to fill with water which seems so basic. Yet He knew how to turn it into sweetness – from cleaning water to the greatest wine!

Jesus doesn’t want to just meet our needs…He wants to give us His best.

With God – we don’t accomplish it, we receive it.

  1. I love to spend alone time with my Father in the mornings, sometimes just thinking about Him refreshes me. I’m not studying or praying, just thinking about Him and who God is. For me that’s like a cool drink of water on a hot, humid day after a couple hours of yard work.

  2. I am thankful for your refilling. My refilling comes in different ways…time alone with the Lord in the mornings, singing and praising Him to music, fun time with my husband and children. Thank God for all the wonderful ways He fills our cups to overflowing!! In Him our joy is complete.

  3. Just what I needed to hear today. Feeling a bit anxious trying to look at the whole instead of step by step. Refilling often comes to me through words….sung, written, spoken….words of others God uses to touch my empty places. Thank you for being part of that refilling!

    • You and I share that “accomplish” factor that wants the big picture and the full plan. Moment by moment His grace is enough. God’s blessings in all you do Debby. I’m so excited for your trip.

  4. Reading God’s word refills and recharges me. I also find it faith-building to listen to encouraging audio-books, preferably outside. I think you told me about the Pastor, Ed Dobson, who has ALS; I received the audio version of his new book in the mail yesterday and am looking forward to going outside this afternoon and listening to it (we live in Texas, going to be 70 today).

    • I did mention Ed to you. I wasn’t a regular at his church but have listened to him many times.I pray his words are a balm and encouragement. Soak some sun for me please!
