how much more

Do you know how to give good gifts?

Have you ever turned down a beautifully wrapped gift because you weren’t sure what might be inside?

How often do we dismiss the gifts God wants to give us?

xSoarHigh webfrom Andrew Murray – The discussion this week was from Luke 11:13 on the Holy Spirit.
“If you then, though you are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father in heaven give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” Luke 11:13

It is impossible to conceive of God bestowing any higher gift on His child than His own Spirit. God is what He is through His Spirit; the Spirit is the very life of God. Just think what it means for God to give His own Spirit to His child on earth.

All spiritual blessings must be received, that is, accepted or taken, in faith. Believe that the Father gives the Holy Spirit to His praying child. Even while I pray, I must say in faith: “I have what I ask, and the fullness of the Spirit is mine.”

This is a wonderful, wonderful word for me today–thank you so much! “As I pray–I must say in faith that I have what I ask, the fullness of the Spirit is mine”–that’s just so beautiful, and I will add it to my prayers, beginning today. God bless you richly–love, sis Caddo

  2. Good gifts? Sometimes people give gifts of what they’d like to receive instead of thinking about what the other person really wants, desires, or needs. I have a closet full of this type of garbage.

The gifts God bestows aren’t trinkets He picked up cheap, or the first things He found on the shelf in His hurried rush, nor are they what He’d like to get. He knows the perfect gifts and if He didn’t withhold His own Son from us, He’ll surely give us all the things we truly need for faith and godliness.

  3. Yes Richard…so often we are clinging to other things – even the garbage – we aren’t in receiving mode. So much more than we ever thought or imagined…. bless you
