hot wax

Waxing or waning, coming or going, working or rest.

It’s not always about one or the other.

I’ve found REST isn’t a matter of not doing but more a feeling of peace. Some ways we find REST, others call work. Painting, gardening, cooking – these can bring a rest to the soul that laying on the couch will never do.

Encaustic painting is a medium that is not precisely controlled. You layer the wax, apply more heat and watch it move and blend.

Requiring control…you seldom find rest.

Moses said to the Lord, “You have been telling me, ‘Lead these people,’ but you have not let me know whom you will send with me. You have said, ‘I know you by name and you have found favor with me.’ If you are pleased with me, teach me your ways so I may know you and continue to find favor with you. Remember that this nation is your people.”

The Lord replied, “My Presence will go with you, and I will give you rest.”
Exodus 33:11-14

I pray His Presence will bring you rest in all that you do.
