spirit word

As I was sketching for this armor piece, I thought it interesting that SWORD had WORD in it and I wanted to enhance it. I do like puzzles so studying the Bible has definitely replaced my Dell Crosswords.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God.
Ephesians 6:17

It felt like this sword of the word wasn’t about a knife or a book that was carried to cut down an enemy but something even stronger to battle those things unseen.

For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Ephesians 6:12

We often think of our enemies in an earthly way but it that’s not what this points to. In order for us to battle well, we also need the Holy Spirit. Some have sarcastically said many believe in Father, Son and Holy Bible more than Holy Spirit, which may be true – but where the Spirit of the Lord is there is freedom! (2 Corinthians 3:17)

Wishing you a wonderful FREEDOM weekend.

If the Son sets you free, you will be free indeed. John 8:36

  1. It takes work and faith to tune in to the Spirit. Not everyone is able to do that. Or maybe they are not willing because with God all things are possible. Great post, love your insight on sword and word. I never thought of it that way before, good connection.

    • A friend was over and looking at the painting after this was written and said, “I see the Spirit.” It was not in my natural thoughts either! He loves to bring life to His Word and I think you are right…willingness and recognizing. He is always speaking! Have an amazing week!
