12 Whoever of you loves life
and desires to see many good days,
13 keep your tongue from evil
and your lips from telling lies.
14 Turn from evil and do good;
seek peace and pursue it.
15 The eyes of the Lord are on the righteous,
and his ears are attentive to their cry;
16 but the face of the Lord is against those who do evil,
to blot out their name from the earth.
Psalm 34:12-16 NIV
There are many faces to evil. We have become a world that accepts more and more of it as normal behavior and continue to redefine it through personal lenses. God’s measures are more important than those of your friends, family or leaders.
Pursuing peace doesn’t mean to lie to keep someone happy, it doesn’t mean to set aside the right things so others don’t feel judged. We are capable of loving others even if evil is overtaking them. (I have to tell myself this often too!)
Thank you Lord for the many ways You teach us about what is good, right, true and lovely. Help us to seek peace in our relationships, in our hearts and for our families. Guide us in ways so we will no longer partner with evil but allow us to do good. Thank you for Your word that brings light to the darkness and hope to the broken.
