8 Taste and see that the Lord is good;
blessed is the one who takes refuge in him.
9 Fear the Lord, you his holy people,
for those who fear him lack nothing.
10 The lions may grow weak and hungry,
but those who seek the Lord lack no good thing.
11 Come, my children, listen to me;
I will teach you the fear of the Lord.
Psalm 34: 8-11 NIV
Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom. You will find this used in both Old Testament and New to talk of those who are in rightly aligned with God. Fearing the world is not where God wants us to be.
We have gotten so used to fear being a word for terror, anxiety or hopelessness but fear of the Lord is not about a God who judges and condemns but a call for us to honor Him. We should be in awe, respect and submission to His word and His ways.
If you were to do a search of verses on this phrase you would find more and more and more encouragement that the fear of the Lord brings hope, sureness, security and understanding.
God, help us know even further the goodness you have for us. Let us understand how great Your love is for Your children and for Your creation. Let us surrender our fears of this world for our fear and awe of You so we will lack no good thing!
