Beloved webSeveral weeks ago I had the word beloved keep playing in my mind and saying it needed to be painted.

How do you paint BELOVED?

With the blank canvas in front of me and not knowing what was to come, I painted the phrase “He calls you beloved.” Now how do you get the rest of the paint on the canvas? You paint over it and do it again.

I think we often forget that WE ARE HIS BELOVED. It may be inside but we don’t see it enough so we need to put it on the outside too.

Maybe it’s time for a beloved sticker on your mirror, your war room wall (good movie!), or on your computer. Could be why a young woman has it tattooed on her forearm.

The world will never give us the best picture of ourselves. It seeks to point out flaws and sell cover-ups.

Listen to what He says about you – that is the real truth!

God designed you so beautifully and HE calls you BELOVED!!

faith in…

Oh my – I found my old way of posting!!
Simple things can bring great JOY!

Faith doesn’t seem like a big word, but it is very complex. As small as a mustard seed, but I feel there is a BIGGER question we should ask.

Who or what is our faith really in?

We exercise faith every moment and the majority is in our abilities, our resources, our families. Having the mindset that we can do all things is great, but in our own strength not the most effective for the spiritual battle.

A question I’ve been asking:
is that thought, solution, or plan from Him, from me or from others?

(If it’s pressured…it’s probably not God!)

This brings me to a favored verse…

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will. Romans 12:2

What kind of thoughts cross your mind as you read scripture?
My reading often brings more questions than answers.

Here are some of the questions I ask the Lord as I read…

How does this apply to my life or circumstances?
What word or section is most important at this time?
Are there other verses I should go to for more insight on this?

One of the most important parts – LISTENING since the Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth. John 16:13

I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world. John 16:33

How did we get the idea following You would be easy?
His questions can be even more challenging…

Dear friends, do you think you’ll get anywhere in this if you learn all the right words but never do anything? Does merely talking about faith indicate that a person really has it? James 2:14

I remember my first art class in watercolor. My attempts were disasters and the person next to me was amazing. He shocked me when he said, “I want my work to be looser, like yours is.”

We compare too much.

We often demean ourselves in the guise of humility and modesty but what we are frequently doing is telling God that He made us as junk.

He said we were very good, made in His image, reflecting His glory.

But whenever someone turns to the Lord, the veil is taken away. For the Lord is the Spirit, and wherever the Spirit of the Lord is, there is freedom. So all of us who have had that veil removed can see and reflect the glory of the Lord. And the Lord—who is the Spirit—makes us more and more like him as we are changed into his glorious image.
2 Corinthians 3:16-18 NLT

Lord – forgive us – help us to see ourselves and others as You see them.

understanding wisdom

Sometimes the message is simple and straight forward and we still miss it.

Have you ever driven past a stop sign…
Totally missed your exit…
Gotten groceries but forget to pay…

We are not always the best at focusing and more keeps trying to grab our attention. Another reason for my hiatus.

The beginning of wisdom is this:
Get wisdom.

Though it cost all you have, get understanding. Proverbs 4:7 NIV

Where can we buy this…
Maybe Walmart, Amazon, or Craig’s List has a deal…

But where can wisdom be found?
Where does understanding dwell?
No mortal comprehends its worth;
it cannot be found in the land of the living.
Job 28:12-13 Read more

If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. James 1:5

mind over matter

Do you find some days you wake up with an attitude?

Maybe it’s every Monday, the weather, or dentist. Most of us have things that trigger negative thoughts. It’s a free country so let’s voice them, right?

Recently I was feeling one of those patterns again. And I don’t like having them. I told the person I was with that I needed a time out. I think they thought it was them but it was me. I found 10 minutes with God and felt released. When I returned, I apologized and shared what was going on in my own mind. We had great conversation and it was gone. The atmosphere changed for the better.

How are you affecting the atmosphere around you?
Is it just our bad day when we carry it around others?

Since, then, you have been raised with Christ, set your hearts on things above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God. Set your minds on things above, not on earthly things. Colossians 3:1-2

I’ve heard of others doing negativity fast’s. It’s making me more aware of what really matters to my mind and what I want to focus on. How about you?

antenna working

Listen to the Wind Blow
The radio was always on as I drove. Then one more OOPS with the kayak and I was down to static.

I settled for silence.

Then I started to enjoy it. I actually began to hear more; observe more. It was as if the over stimulation was keeping me from fully using my senses.

A group has gathered to share on listening prayer. Which means we spend time with God and wait for His responses. Journaling and sharing (some).

Years ago I was introduced to a great little book by Holland, MI native, Mary Geegh, a missionary in India. She shares a story of a visiting Pastor to her village who somehow helped the town drunk to change his ways. She wondered how could that be…she had prayed for years.

The Pastor shared with her how they listened to God. When you hear Him – you are changed.
Her little book God Guides is still printed in her honor.

Thank you God for bringing new life to my antenna.

secret retreat

conger web
What do you do for some refreshing time away?

A friend has a shed in the woods she calls the “little house”. I have yet to do my mini retreat there since it’s closed for the winter, but still picture the peacefulness.

Location is not always the answer. Sometimes we just need to invite the Holy Spirit to join us.

When the armies of the enemy surround me,
I will not be afraid.
When death calls for me in the midst of war,
my soul is confident and unmoved.
I am pleading with the Eternal for this one thing,
my soul’s desire:
To live with Him all of my days—
in the shadow of His temple,
To behold His beauty and ponder His ways
in the company of His people.
His house is my shelter and secret retreat.
It is there I find peace in the midst of storm and turmoil.
Safety sits with me in the hiding place of God.
He will set me on a rock, high above the fray.

026yupo webAre you ever confused?

I am.

We expect so much to be predictable. People, the weather, the plans for the day. Things don’t always turn out as we wanted. There always seems to be something or someone that disrupts our “normal” flow.

I was thinking of the “never quit” post and praying through some things. Sometimes we do need to quit before we can move forward on the road He has called us to travel.

The verses lately say, “study how He did it” and “learn to think like Him.” That is the renewing of our minds, isn’t it?

Instead of OUR expectations – HIS expectations.

To Him – 2 fish and a loaf might be enough instead of us trying to take over the whole event. If we’re doing all the planning – where is HE?

Let me put this question to you: How did your new life begin? Was it by working your heads off to please God? Or was it by responding to God’s Message to you? Are you going to continue this craziness? For only crazy people would think they could complete by their own efforts what was begun by God. Gal 3:2-3

Thank You Lord that You give such grace. Help us to give ourselves grace too.

here’s to success!

sketch alteredDid you make the big SPLASH you want?
How do you measure your IMPACT?
What is SUCCESS to you?

All valid questions but underlying each answer is, “Who are you doing it for?”

A great message at church where Pastor Ken was asking us, “Are you willing to do ANYTHING…ANYTIME…ANYWHERE for God?”

We’ll often do anything, anytime and anywhere for family or money or work or ministry or _________. But today I ponder and wonder what others might say.

We all have some limits – don’t we?
Is that always to our benefit?

“Don’t look for shortcuts to God. The market is flooded with surefire, easygoing formulas for a successful life that can be practiced in your spare time. Don’t fall for that stuff, even though crowds of people do. The way to life—to God!—is vigorous and requires total attention.” Matthew 7:13-14 Message

“Enter through the narrow gate. For wide is the gate and broad is the road that leads to destruction, and many enter through it. But small is the gate and narrow the road that leads to life, and only a few find it.” Matthew 7:13-14 NIV
