let’s imagine

Did I just catch you daydreaming?

Letting your thoughts wander is often seen as childish or irresponsible, but where would we be without our imagination?

Still with the horse and buggy by the candle light?

We certainly know how to be creative in worrying – don’t we?

As kids, our imaginations went to a lot of fun and creative places – blanket forts, dancing clouds, cardboard castles, and wrapping paper swords.

When was the last time you did something silly?

Innovation begs for imagination. God created us in His image…He used great imagination! A part I love is that He designed us with two sides to our brains. To live His full and abundant life we should be intentional in using them both.

You can’t depend on your eyes when your imagination is out of focus. Mark Twain

Worry is the misuse of the imagination. Dan Zadra

limited vision

This is not just a vision test…

Cover one eye – look at your surroundings.

What is the main difference seeing with only one eye?

Unless you have some other unique thing – the main difference is a limited field of vision. The scenery doesn’t change it is just how much of it you see.

Now cover half of your brain –

Did you find that a little difficult?

What is the main difference if using one side of your brain?

Our sight is very similar to our brain – logic vs creative, knowledge vs revelation.

We have gotten very used to using the grown-up, rational, and responsible part of our brain so we can be serious and conscientious people. But God created us ALL with a right brain too – a creative side. A place of dreams, passions, and innovative ideas. Unfortunately we often outgrow.

Maybe it’s time for some change.

its not what you think

Visit the cook…they have the story.

Now if you can just understand the language!

I love to visit with Ceciline and Aimable and watch their magic. It doesn’t always increase your appetite but that’s where you pray God nourishes your body and anything not needed passes with no ill effects. I think I forgot to tell the group that prayer.

I was asking about fresh fruit. Avocado’s were in season but I had oranges on my mind. I was told not in season but found them skinning the thick rinds and using them as their preserving agent for the chicken and turkey….along with some citrons which I did persuade them to use for citronade….yum! No refrigeration – you get creative!

Another part of the mindset to change when in Haiti – there is no Walmart and if it’s not in season, seldom can you rush it unless you go to another part of the country. But 30 miles takes many hours so make do with what you’ve got.

How often do we think that here?? Not much.

The LORD will open the heavens, the storehouse of his bounty, to send rain on your land in season and to bless all the work of your hands. You will lend to many nations but will borrow from none. Deut 28:12

I’ve been hanging on to this chapter!
