nuts are everywhere

Are you a nutcracker?

Haiti has almonds everywhere. We pay the premium for them in the US. The nut is so tough outside you pound with rocks and dig out the centers with fingernails or other things. Yes, hammers or nut crackers would be convenient but this is Haiti folks.

Some industrious kids showed us exactly what it takes. I reminded my fellow travelers hands and rocks weren’t so clean, be careful. It might be what gave Ash his “Haitian Happiness” but we all sampled.

Later on a walk, two of our harvestors were ready for more. For who, I don’t know but a great lesson in giving what you have.

I think of a song from prayer group by our local Old Man Worship Band “Silver and gold I do not have, but what I have I give to you.”

The rest of the story makes it seem so simple how miracles are done. “In the Name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, walk.” Acts 3:6

ponderings, rest

out in the garden

I thought I was getting a head start on some herb growing by starting seeds in the house. I found a handy covered tray and kept moving it with the sun. The cats didn’t get it but seems some fuzzy soil made all the little sprouts wither away.

I’m not going to let that stop me!!

Today I planted more seeds outside. Some think I have a green thumb with my flower gardens but not really…..I just have planted a lot over the years!

It was an honor to be on the garden tour last year but I think I prefer things more intimate. So the bunnies, the birds and I will be nesting and resting in God’s bounty and looking forward to sharing with others.

Come on by for a bbq….fresh herbs on the grilled veggies!! I promise I’ll put the computer away and give you my undivided attention.

your story

Deep Blue
We all have stories and its important to share them. Good and bad…its all part of the history of this world. You may think your story seems boring, lame and of no account to anyone but I believe every story has value. Extreme detail isn’t always needed but it might just what someone else needs to hear.

Imagine thousands of years ago people writing on animal skins, no printing presses, copy machines or YouTube to help. Yet people took the time to record their discoveries, trials and thoughts. History books, theories, star charts and inventions. What if these hadn’t been shared?

Writing became such a process of discovery that I couldn’t wait to get to work in the morning: I wanted to know what I was going to say. ~Sharon O’Brien

Fill your paper with the breathings of your heart. ~William Wordsworth

….and music….would we have that treasure without shared stories?

busy, outreach, ponderings

did you say busy…

I was warned and still never imagined having so many deadlines, events and opportunities. Thankfully still time for friends and meeting more these past few months. It’s not always about what you do but definitely about sharing time with others.

After a weekend spent with authors, dreamers and challengers…I am ready to expose a bit more of myself with words instead of just with art.

I’ll also share some of my recent watercolor work – it let’s me be a bit more daring that I usually feel. Yeah – you think I have no fear…well maybe not fear but I am still working to get rid of my perfectionist mindset and ease up on myself. Moving from “self-sufficiency” to MORE “Christ-sufficiency.” In 150 words or less for each post. The word count might be the hardest part!
