Too often stories of blame and judgment are front page. They have me thinking about how often I am doing the same. While understanding the impact of others on our lives, I’m finding my responses are my responsibility – I have more work to do.
How often are you feeling or sharing stories of blame, shame and guilt? My answer – too often.
The thief comes to kill, steal and destroy. Jesus already came to give life. He came to make all things new. He did it all for us so we don’t have to play the game anymore.
So why do we?
On the cross, Jesus said, “It is finished.”
Do we need him to be crucified again? “Finished” wasn’t about his life here on earth, he meant all strongholds, shame, and sin were on his shoulders. In Christ we are set free! Not maybe or if…
Blame, shame and guilt gives the deceiver a foothold to climb all over us. Stand firm in FAITH and PRESS ON to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of you!
Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience. Bear with each other and forgive one another if any of you has a grievance against someone. Forgive as the Lord forgave you. And over all these virtues put on love, which binds them all together in perfect unity. Colossians 3:12-14
That’ll preach sister!!!
I preach to myself often…thanks for letting me share some of it…
There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus. … For the Scripture says, “Whoever believes on Him will not be put to shame” (Rom 8:1 and 10:11). Good word Judi.
I know this truth Richard…why do I/we beat ourselves up so much? (I do know some of those answers…)
