I find both positive and negative parts to a Michigan winter. Though I am not a fan of the cold – I wanted to share some thoughts today. I’ll let you decide if they are good or bad.
Like the cold of snow in the time of harvest is a faithful messenger to those who send him; he refreshes the soul of his masters. Proverbs 25:13
Snow is beautiful as it blankets the roads and lawns in a clean fresh coat of white. It make even the moonlight reflect to lighten the sky. The peace in the silence and stillness can take your breath away. The extra fluffs resting on branches seem like cotton fields in their fullness. A beautiful excuse to hibernate with tea and reading or be intentional to go visit another. To see the signs of extra visitors as the prints reveal their true paths.
I know many get more excited with skies, mobiles or shoes, but for now, I’ll settle for the gentleness of the season, warm my tea and ponder some powerful words…
For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven and do not return there but water the earth, making it bring forth and sprout, giving seed to the sower and bread to the eater, so shall my word be that goes out from my mouth; it shall not return to me empty, but it shall accomplish that which I purpose, and shall succeed in the thing for which I sent it. For you shall go out in joy and be led forth in peace; the mountains and the hills before you shall break forth into singing, and all the trees of the field shall clap their hands. Isaiah 55:10-12
Love that last verse. So very true about the snow making everything look clean. Nice post.
Thanks Lucinda – today the wind made the trees dance plenty! Nature shares so much of God’s story! Bless you!
I’m from Iowa. I live in Atlanta. Call me crazy, but I miss the snow and the cold and the peace and silence a fresh snow brings. and I love Isaiah 55. Thanks for sharing and inspiring me this morning.
Thankfully we have some options! Even when unpredictable. Isaiah brings a lot of good things to chew on! Blessings to you!
I am NOT a fan of the cold, living in southern CA, I’m cold if the temp drops below 70, haha. Would never survive living in the snow. But I do admire the beauty, pure clean look of snow. I stumbled upon your site, while going down a rabbit trail off of another site,,,,,and I’m so glad I did. I like how you incorporate scripture and inspirational thoughts into your art work. Thank you for sharing truths from God’s Word and thoughts from your heart.
Thanks for stopping by Debbie! I loved my visits to S CA and do prefer those temps. Air conditioning sometimes is too cold for me. May God bless you richly in this New Year!
Love winter, the cold and the snow. It doesn’t last forever, thankfully, but while it’s here I really do enjoy it.
